Run today

My shortish run today felt rather good.  The temperature was just right, and it was nice to just go and get a chance to clear my head.  I took a few days off due to a crazy weekend, so I was a little nervous about the run.  I was glad that it went well, and I look forward to getting back on track with my workouts.

Biking after swimming

Today I did these two events in a row, and I definitely could tell on the bike that I had worked before.  It was slower than I would have liked, but I made it in fairly good time.  I only have two complaints, that I lost a contact and almost got hit by a car.  Other than that, it was a good ride.  The weather was just right for it!

Getting back in the pool

Today’s swim felt really good.  I tried breathing every third stroke, and it seemed to even me out in the lane, and I focused on turning my hips with my stroke, which also seemed to help things out.  There was a guy using a kickboard in the lane next to me, and he was going faster than me!  It kinda made me mad until I realized that he had flippers on!  Then I was okay with it and continued on my merry way :)

Today’s ride was just a ride around campus, and we definitely took our time……it was fun and relaxing, two words that are not always used when talking about biking….

Swimming

Today I tried doing the whole events back to back thing.  The swim went really well, but I ended up going with some friends on the bike ride, and one of them was on rollerblades.  So it turned into a leisurely bike ride, which was still a lot of fun!

Running outside

My run felt good tonight, but it was a little slower than I would have liked.  Maybe next time I run i should run on the treadmill so I can see what pace I can hold and what it feels like.  But running outside is just so much better……. we’ll see.

Swimming

I’ve discovered that there is this huge mental part to doing any activity during training.  I’m sure all of you experienced athletes are laughing that it took me this long to figure it out.  But now I’m all caught up!  It’s really cool for me to be in the water and have complete control over how I move and how fast and being able to set my own personal goals.  I guess that is one of the reasons why I like exercise so much.
